The long-running Harvest Moon series has been showing us since 1996 that farming can be fun -- and doesn't just have to be about clicking on things and watching progress bars. The fact that they were sims infused with character and a sense of narrative rather than just being simple sandbox sims has contributed to their success over the years, with each new title offering something of a twist on the formula of the SNES original.
The latest in the series arrives today in the form of Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns, which released on DS back in September. Casting players in the role of either a male or female character, the game's plot revolves around solving a feud between the towns of crop-loving Konohana and animal specialist Bluebell. The 3DS version features improved (and 3D) graphics over its DS predecessor. StreetPass compatibility also allows players to acquire items on the go. It costs $39.99. Order direct from US distributor Natsume and get a free plush alpaca.
