Nyko Deluxe Power Grip adds battery life and ergonomics to the 3DS

The Deluxe Power Grip adds a console-style controller grip to the 3DS and it doubles the battery life of the device thanks to the built-in battery. The grip is contoured to fit gamers’ hands, looking quite like an Xbox 360 controller with the trigger buttons. The larger size will surely make the 3DS easier to hold.
The grip snaps right on to the 3DS’s lower half, still allowing the gaming device to open and close as it normally would. The design of the Deluxe Power Grip means that volume slide, headphone jack, and other important features are all still available to the gamer.
The Deluxe Power Grip can be charged using the 3DS’ normal AC adapter or a USB cable, which is not normally possible with the 3DS. The built-in 3.7V 2600mAh Lithium-ion battery is considerably larger than the 3DS’s 1300mAh one and it is said to be able to double the 3DS’ battery life.
The Nyko Deluxe Power Grip is available now for $30. It looks like a better alternative than Nyko’s Power Pak+, though you might feel a big goofy if you take it out in public.

“So, I told them that I was going to found my own independent company and leave Capcom. However, I stated that I was ready to make a contract with them so that I could keep working on those projects that I started. Alex Neuse from Bit Trip developer Gaijin Games doesn't like the slide pad

Alex Neuse from Bit Trip developer Gaijin Games, recently discussed the 3DS Slide Pad, dubbing it "crap" and "very frustrating".

Since the 3DS Slide Pad became official, it's experienced a marmite reception from fans - some feel a second, bolted-on circle pad for 3DS is worthwhile, whilst others dislike it.

Neuse expressed his frustration with the move in an interview with Tiny Catridge from both a developer and consumer perspective.

Also, as a developer, it’s a bummer whenever first parties come out with something like this. Whether it’s the Expansion Slide Pad, Wii Motion Plus, PlayStation Move, or Kinect, developers have a hard decision to make about whether they want to support the new features of the hardware.

From one perspective, new hardware is very exciting, but from another perspective, it’s very risky; because if your game requires it, that means that you’re forcing the player to have that hardware. And not all consumers will have bought the new device.

'Dragon Quest X' To Square Off Against Smartphone, Social Games

The video game industry is hopeful that the 2012 release of a major new "Dragon Quest" title, this one with online play, will energize a domestic market that has slumped as smartphones and social networking sites come into their own as gaming platforms.Square Enix said Monday that "Dragon Quest X" will go on sale for Nintendo Co.'s  Wii next year and that it is also developing a version with improved graphics for the console's planned successor, the Wii U Video games continue to change rapidly," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told a news conference here Monday, adding that the new "Dragon Quest" title could redefine the online RPG.
In "Dragon Quest X," players can form parties with their friends online. As games played on social networking sites like those of Gree Inc.  and DeNA Co.  draw users, Square Enix hopes to make its hit series more attractive by offering interactions between players over the Net.
The domestic home video game market shrank for three years straight through 2010, according to game magazine publisher Enterbrain Inc. But while hopes are high for "Dragon Quest X," the product will not come out in time for the 2011 year-end shopping season. Nintendo, having posted a 37.7 billion yen operating loss for the April-June quarter, intends to focus for now on boosting sales of the Nintendo 3DS, its 3-D handheld game system released this spring.

Iwata: No Free-To-Play Or Freemium Games On Nintendo Wii U [Speaking About The Nintendo Wii U, Iwata Says They Won't Give Into Free & Cheap Games, Trying To Protect Value Of Software]

Site Meter
Do you like to play “freemium” free-to-play games on the computer like Champions Online, Battlefield Play4Free and other games? Well, don’t expect such games on the Nintendo Wii U. In an interview with AllThingsD, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said that they won’t be offering free to play games on the Wii U, because he sees them as destroying “the value of game software.”

Speaking to AllThingsD’s Trica Duryee, Iwata said:
I’m not interested in offering software for free of charge. That’s because I myself am one of the game developers, who in the future wants to make efforts so the value of the software will be appreciated by the consumers. [...] My point is about how we can keep the public’s perception of the software.
If we are going to destroy the value of the game software — once we have done so, it’s a difficult job to recover from that situation.
Yes, it is true. There are great examples of advertising and doing the microtranscactions [sic], and several companies who have come up with that kind of system. But on the other hand, if you ask me, is this the system that can be sustatined [sic] for the long time? I don’t know the answer. And, my point is that I’m not willing to go that direction, as well.
Iwata is, of course, talking about the increasing opposition that Nintendo is facing from mobile phone games, specifically the iPhone and iPod Touch, which has replaced the Nintendo DS at the top of many kids’ wish lists for holidays and birthdays.
While Apple and their fans enjoy tons of free and $1 games, Nintendo seems committed to offering full games with a more fulfilling experience. This seems to be the way they’re going to approach on the Nintendo 3DS as well as the Nintendo Wii U.
This raises the question about Ghost Recon Online, which is free to play on the computer. It was shown and announced for the Wii U, but does that mean that Nintendo and Ubisoft will be making Wii U gamers pay for a game that’s free on the PC? Doesn’t sound like a good way to launch a more “hardcore” friendly system to me.

Sony announces jumbo Nintendo DS tablet

Europe’s largest consumer electronics expo, IFA 2011, is just about to kick off in Berlin. Sony new tab called S (slate) and P (portable) tablets,Price- and availability-wise, the Sony S 16GB will be $499, and 32GB will be $599 — the same as the iPad 2 — and it doesn’t sound like it will be a carrier exclusive. The Sony P doesn’t have a US release date yet (and it will be an AT&T exclusive), but it should be available in Europe for around 500 euros in November.
Spec-wise, the Sony tablets sport dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPUs clocked at 1GHz — and judging by some benchmarks, they are certainly not the fastest tablets on the block. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a 1.4GHz dual-core Cortex-A9-based Exynos 4210 SoC — a faster version of the chip found in the Galaxy S II smartphone — which should be very fast indeed. All three tablets have 1GB of RAM and plenty of expandable, non-volatile flash storage, 3G (HSPA+) connectivity, and they all run Android 3 Honeycomb (with highly customized interfaces). Both the Sony S and P are PlayStation-certified, too, meaning it can play PS games like the Xperia Play — but neither device has hardware gamepad buttons, so…Design-wise, it is Sony that — as always — is pushing the boat out with some interesting and unconventional shapes and use-cases. The S tablet at first glance is just a standard me-too iPad killer — but you’ll notice in the image below that it’s actually curved along one horizontal side. Apparently this is to mimic the feel of a folded magazine or newspaper, a shape and weight distribution that is easier to hold with one hand. Having one raised edge will mean that it can prop itself up on a flat surface, too. The P tablet, of all things, is a clamshell with two 5.5-inch 1024×480 screens (view larger); kind of like a jumbo Nintendo DS. Just like clamshell phones of yesteryear, this rather odd form factor will allow the P to go where no other tablet has gone before: the jacket pocket and the purse. The Sony S, incidentally, has a 9.4-inch screen at 1280×768; higher resolution than the iPad 2.

Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Are Discussing The Legend Of Zelda Majora’s Mask 3DS Remake

Eiji Aonuma has told US gaming publication Nintendo Power that the company are currently discussing whether to remake The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the Nintendo 3DS. Apparently if everyone makes enough noise then Nintendo will consider making Majora’s Mask 3D a reality.
After playing Ocarina of Time 3D, the next question that comes to mind is: Will we get a Majora’s Mask remake next?
Would you like to play such a remake?
Well, Yes!
It’s been 13 years since Ocarina of Time was originally released, and one of the big things that we made this remake possible was that there was an outpour of emotions from people who said they would like to see this game done. We said we could do it in 3D, so we did. I think certainly if there was a similar output of emotion and clamor from fans for a remake of Majora’s Mask, it wouldn’t be an utter impossibility.
Thinking on it now, having a handheld Majora’s Mask where you could kind of just set things down on your own time – close it, set it aside and come back to it later – might be a game play element some fans will actually take to and might really appreciate. Especially considering how you really had to rush through the original game, in a sense.

Nintendo Wii U: Wii Fit Coming To Wii U?

Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted that the company are busy preparing a Wii Fit game for Wii U. Whilst it’s something Miyamoto was unable to go into detail about he did say that Nintendo is looking at different ways to do training exercises with Wii Fit using the Wii U controller

“I can’t really talk about it in detail, but we’re working on new ways to do training exercises with Wii Fit, like using the camera, you can place it against something and play while the game looks at your status.”
